Hi there – I’m Sue, the Deputy Manager of Welcome Nurseries@5 Star Nursery.

Welcome to our nursery in Halifax, Yorkshire, a wonderful place with a home-from-home feel, a calming atmosphere and talented, wonderful staff. I hope this is the perfect find for your little one!

Parents choose us because of our focus on free-flow play, our strong connection with the local community, close proximity to nearby schools and fantastic outdoor facilities.

This nursery has a brilliant approach to playtime with a range of facilities, from our conservatory through to our selection of outdoor areas for over threes and our cosy baby room. Located just a short walk away from the local park and nearby to a library, we also provide on site parking and are located next to a bus stop for easy access.

Providing childcare for children aged new born to five years, we are incredibly proud of our warm, friendly environment which we provide daily for the children, all of whom we care for as if they were our own.

Due to our close proximity with schools are also offer an after school club, whilst our close ties with the community have allowed us to visit the local care home with the children too.

What happens in a day in the life of a Nursery Manager?

What does a normal day involve for you?

We open up the nursery doors at 07:30am so my day tends to begin quite early but I don’t mind at all! I like to make sure that I am ready for the children when they come through the door as it’s always nice to start the day with a smile and a chat to parents. We usually have breakfast at 08:30am and then it’s on to playtime and learning! At the moment I am currently working in the room for under threes. The activities on offer range from painting and the sand pit through to water play and play dough modelling! Everybody at the nursery also like to sing so we spend a lot of the day doing that!

I am office based at times but for the majority of the day I am down in the playrooms, interacting with the children and watching them grow and succeed.

Why do you love your job?

The kids! Each and every one of them are all so different, it’s incredible to watch them learn, grow and achieve. They really do change all of the time! Some children might be away for a holiday or off sick, and it’s incredible to see how they progress in this short time. The children are so funny to play with and it’s always wonderful to see them. I’ve been working here for a while now so it’s heart warming to see that the babies I looked after are now going to high school!

Why do parents love your nursery?

I think the parents love the nursery due to the home-from-home feel, the love and care that we provide is second to none, we treat the children like their our own. If the children fall over, they come to us for a cuddle, parents can pick up on this warm, welcoming feel that when they come into the nursery.

What are your favourite hobbies outside of work?

My favourite hobbies outside of work revolve mostly around socialising with my family and friends. I also enjoy collecting coins which has kept me entertained in lockdown.

How do I book a place for my child?

If you would like to book a place for your child, please fill out the enquiry form, we will then get in touch with you to discuss your interest further.

Are all staff DBS (CRB/police) checked and first aid trained?

All our staff have an enhanced DBS check, this is our way of ensuring quality and safety in our team. All our staff are also paediatric first aid trained and fully aware of the correct action to take in an emergency. We understand that safety is your primary concern – it is ours too.

My child has special educational needs, can they still attend?

Yes, we are happy to discuss any specific requirements you might have regarding SENDCo for your child, working to provide the best possible experience for your little one. We follow the layout of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), a government approved structure for the development and learning of all children aged newborn to five years. Along these lines, we deliver a full range of activities for your little ones, aimed at boosting their communication and aiding them in new discoveries daily.

My little boy loves this nursery, he’s come on so much and adores the staff. They really are amazing and they always tell me what he’s done throughout day and any concerns. Brilliant, very accommodating nursery!

My little boy absolutely loves coming to Welcome Nurseries@5 Star Nursery! He loves all the staff there and they have really made going back to work and putting him in nursery easier, he strides straight in and hands them his blanket! We are always kept up to date with what he’s done/eaten that day and I’ve not had one single worry since his first day! He has come on so much and I’d definitely recommend this place, it’s a lovely nursery.

My boys love coming here and just adore the staff. We’re always informed of what they’ve done and any concerns of ours have always been addressed so positively. Cannot recommend more highly.

‘I cannot fault this nursery! My little girl loves going and she’s learned so much, she’s so confident in contract to the shy girl she was. Lovely staff, always welcoming’.

‘My daughter absolutely loves it here and I can go to work knowing that she is having a blast and learning non stop. I couldn’t have found a better place in my opinion.’

‘I cannot recommend Welcome Nurseries@5 Star Nursery enough. The care my children receive is excellent and they both enjoy their time at the nursery and school club. All the staff are extremely professional and they all know each individual child. It is a very caring environment and my children have experienced each room (baby, toddler, preschool and school club). Absolutely excellent- 5*!’

My son loves going there. It’s the only way I can get him out of bed.

Absolutely fantastic nursery, the staff are amazing, and it’s like a home from home. Our eldest has just graduated and it was such a wonderful day with a cracking graduation performance. I cannot thank the staff enough for providing our children with an encouraging environment for them to learn, play and grow.
