Hi there – I’m Dominique, the Senior Manager of Welcome Nurseries @ Petite Nursery, York.

Welcome to our nursery in Haxby, Yorkshire, a charming place with a friendly feel and a child-led approach to play. I hope this is the perfect find for your little one!

Parents choose us because of our proximity to nearby schools in the local area; our wonderful, dedicated staff and our homely, welcoming environment.

Our nursery has a great approach to playtime as we like to allow the children to take the lead in their learning. From our newly refurbished outdoor area, through to our covered veranda for free flow play, we allow the children to be engaged and involved with new discoveries daily.

Providing childcare for children aged new born to five years and offering freshly cooked meals on site, we are incredibly proud of our close relationships with parents and carers, impressive facilities and idyllic setting of Yorkshire.

With parking on site and walking distance from local bus stops, we are accessible for all families, whatever their situation.

What happens in a day in the life of a Nursery Manager?

What does a normal day involve for you?

A normal day for me is arriving nice and early to open up the nursery. I spend the time before children start to arrive setting up activities for the children ensuring they are going to have a fun filled day.  I am always at the door welcoming children with a big ‘good morning’ and a smile. I think it is really important to ensure there is communication between parents and staff by asking how the child has been in order to keep everybody up to date.

During the day, I like the children to have spent plenty of time outdoors, having access to a range of facilities making it a fun learning environment.  I also like getting involved as much as I can with the children by doing activities with them such as painting and baking.

Why do you love your job?

I love my job because of the children, all of them so unique in their own special way. I love watching them grow and learn and knowing that I have played a part in their development is so very rewarding.

Why do parents love your nursery?

I think parents appreciate the nurseries homely feel and how involved all of our staff are which is made easy with us being a small setting. Being small helps to create a home-from-home cosy feel. It allows us to build strong bonds between staff and parents.

What are your favourite hobbies outside of work?

I feel I’m always on the go, I love education and spend my spare time working hard towards my degree. When I do get time I mostly enjoy socialising with friends and family and taking lots of pictures as I really love nature and photography.

FAQ's

How do I book a place for my child?

If you would like to book a place for your child, please fill out the enquiry form, we will then get in touch with you to discuss your interest further.

Are all staff DBS (CRB/police) checked and first aid trained?

All our staff have an enhanced DBS check, this is our way of ensuring quality and safety in our team. All our staff are also paediatric first aid trained and fully aware of the correct action to take in an emergency. We understand that safety is your primary concern – it is ours too.

My child has special educational needs, can they still attend?

Yes, we are happy to discuss any specific requirements you might have regarding SENDCo for your child, working to provide the best possible experience for your little one. We follow the layout of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), a government approved structure for the development and learning of all children aged newborn to five years. Along these lines, we deliver a full range of activities for your little ones, aimed at boosting their communication and aiding them in new discoveries daily.
