Hi there – I’m Amy, the Deputy Manager of Welcome Nurseries @ Smarties Nursery, Leicester.

Welcome to our nursery in Enderby, the premier early years provider in Leicestershire and the automatic choice for parents seeking first class childcare. I hope this is the perfect find for your little one!

Parents choose us because of our warm and welcoming atmosphere, delicious, freshly prepared food, proximity to nearby schools and beautiful sensory rooms.

This nursery has a wonderful approach to playtime and an impressive range of facilities, from our spacious yet cosy playrooms through to our brilliant outdoor area which spans over half an acre!

Our incredible facilities also permit free flow play, allowing children safe access to both indoor and outdoor facilities throughout the day; whilst our talented staff are on hand to accommodate and deliver support for children and parents regarding SENDCo.

Providing childcare for your little ones aged six weeks to four years, we also offer an after school club and lift service for children aged up to 12. Situated just a short walk from bus stops and the local train station, we offer parking on site for staff, visitors, parents and carers.

What happens in a day in the life of a Nursery Manager?

What does a normal day involve for you?

My days vary day to day due to the nature of working in a nursery, there is always something new going on! I usually like to get in early in order to greet the children and chat to the parents.

As the deputy manager, I spend two days out the week in the playrooms with the children and the other three days in the office sorting admin, organising target plans, contacting parents, conducting tours and managing SENDCo.

Why do you love your job?

I love my job because the nursery is such a lovely, happy place to be! My job is super varied so it’s always great to come in each day to experience something new and exciting. I also find it fascinating to be there with the children as they learn, develop and accomplish new things daily.

It’s wonderful to see children return to the nursery for the after school club when they also attended the nursery as babies!

Why do parents love your nursery?

I think the parents love the nursery because of the wonderful staff that work here. All of our staff are highly knowledgable, brilliantly trained and happy to help with any issue.

We are also extremely proud of how friendly and inviting our staff are, they really help to make the nursery a welcoming, wonderful place for the parents and children to be.

I also think the parents appreciate the fact that we are happy to discuss and accommodate children with special educational needs or disabilities, as well as being happy for professionals to attend the nursery as well to offer additional support.

What are your favourite hobbies outside of work?

I have two children so at the moment my hobbies are their hobbies! I spend my weekends gettingup to adventures with them, heading to the park or going on big walks.

FAQ's

How do I book a place for my child?

If you would like to book a place for your child, please fill out the enquiry form, we will then get in touch with you to discuss your interest further.

Are all staff DBS (CRB/police) checked and first aid trained?

All our staff have an enhanced DBS check, this is our way of ensuring quality and safety in our team. All our staff are also paediatric first aid trained and fully aware of the correct action to take in an emergency. We understand that safety is your primary concern – it is ours too.

My child has special educational needs, can they still attend?

Yes, we are happy to discuss any specific requirements you might have regarding SENDCo for your child, working to provide the best possible experience for your little one. We follow the layout of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), a government approved structure for the development and learning of all children aged newborn to five years. Along these lines, we deliver a full range of activities for your little ones, aimed at boosting their communication and aiding them in new discoveries daily.

Testimonials:

Such an amazing nursery with wonderful staff! My little girl settled in so well from the first day (she even says bye on drop offs!) I’m grateful to all the staff who are so warm, friendly and pay attention to her development and social skills. They have put in a lot of effort to the cleaning procedures in place during this unprecedented time which is absolutely remarkable. Many thanks for looking after my daughter and keeping her safe’
